]]>Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet with your guide. You will transfer to the hotel in Arusha for your overnight stay.
Note: Arusha, a city in Tanzania, East Africa, is located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It is a gateway to various safari destinations as well as to Africa’s highest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895m), situated some 100 kilometers north-east.
Depart from Arusha to Tarangire National Park. Go on a full-day game drive in the park and enjoy lunch. In the evening, drive to your lodge for a sunset dinner and overnight stay.
Note: The park is located slightly off the main safari route. This lovely, quiet park in northern Tanzania is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and authentic safari atmosphere. The majority of travelers to the region either miss visiting Tarangire or venture into the park for only a matter of hours, leaving parts of Tarangire virtually untouched.Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara for a game drive in the park. In the afternoon your driver will provide you with a full lunch. Continue with your game drive until evening, then head to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Note: Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants.Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge.
Depart after breakfast and drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge. Enjoy a full lunch, with refreshments, and continue your game drive in central Serengeti. In the evening, head to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Note: Serengeti National Park is well known for its healthy stock of resident wildlife, particularly the “Big Bive”, named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters. The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa, due to the abundance of prey. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. The african leopard, a reclusive predator, is commonly seen in the Seronera region, but is present throughout the park with a population of around 1,000.Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge
Breakfast at the lodge will be followed by a full-day game drive in the park. In the evening, your safari guide will prepare sundowner cocktails before you head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Note: The Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Masai Mara Game Reserve across the border in Kenya, protect the greatest and most varied collection of terrestrial wildlife on earth. It is one of the last great migratory systems still intact. The Serengeti is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania’s protected areas, which altogether make up some 14% of the country’s land area, a conservation record that few other countries can match.Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge

After breakfast, go on a game drive toward the crater. Enjoy a hot lunch in the afternoon. Drive to Lake Eyasi and check in to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Note: The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of hippo, flamingo and other water birds can usually been seen here.Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge
The main reason to visit the area is to learn about the culturally diverse local tribes including the Hadzabe (bushmen), Datoga and Barabaig people. You may have a hunting experience with bushmen. Drive back to Arusha with a stop-over for lunch. Transfer to your hotel or the airport. This is the end of the tour.Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge.

Machame route has been nicknamed the “Whiskey Route”. However, camping is allowed on Machame, which means trekkers will be sleeping in tents all the way to the summit. The most popular route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro these days is the 7 Days Machame route, and for good reason. ]]>The name itself is a mystery wreathed in clouds. It might mean Mountain of Light, Mountain of Greatness or Mountain of Caravans. Or it might not. The local people, the Wachagga, don’t even have a name for the whole massif, only Kipoo (now known as Kibo) for the familiar snowy peak that stands imperious, overseer of the continent, the summit of Africa.
Kilimanjaro, by any name, is a metaphor for the compelling beauty of East Africa. When you see it, you understand why. Not only is this the highest peak on the African continent; it is also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, rising in breathtaking isolation from the surrounding coastal scrubland – elevation around 900 metres – to an imperious 5,895 metres (19,336 feet).

]]>The post 7 Days Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route appeared first on Delight Rose Safaris.
]]>7 Days Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb, Kilimanjaro 7 Days Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route is a classic trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the oldest, most well established route. Many favour the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, due to its more gradual slope. It is also the only route which offers sleeping huts with dormitory style accommodation. And those who reach Uhuru Point, the actual summit, or Gillman’s Point on the lip of the crater, will have earned their climbing certificates.
And their memories.
But there is so much more to Kilimanjaro than her summit. The ascent of the slopes is a virtual climatic world tour, from the tropics to the Arctic.
Even before you cross the national park boundary (at the 2,700m contour), the cultivated footslopes give way to lush montane forest, inhabited by elusive elephant, leopard, buffalo, the endangered Abbot’s duiker, and other small antelope and primates. Higher still lies the moorland zone, where a cover of giant heather is studded with otherworldly giant lobelias.
Above 4,000m, a surreal alpine desert supports little life other than a few hardy mosses and lichen. Then, finally, the last vestigial vegetation gives way to a winter wonderland of ice and snow – and the magnificent beauty of the roof of the continent.

]]>Portuguese invasion and control of the Swahili Coast in the late 16th century ended the golden age of the archipelago, although the Omani Arabs returned to power less than a century later. Today, many of the winding streets and high townhouses of old Stone Town remain unchanged and visitors can walk between the sultan’s palace, the House of Wonders, the Portuguese fort and gardens, the merchants’ houses, and the Turkish baths of the old city. Day-long spice tours to working plantations offer visitors the chance to observe the cultivation of cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and other spices that have made the island famous.
Zanzibar’s coastline offers some of the best beaches in the world, but sand and surf vary depending on what side of the island you’re on. On the east coast, waves break over coral reefs and sand bars offshore, and low tide reveals small pools of starfish, small minnows, and anemones. Up north, ocean swimming is much less susceptible to the tides, and smooth beaches and white sand make for dazzling days in the sun.
The port city of Stone Town dominates the west coast, and although the beaches of Mangapwani, where slave caves are visible at low tide and nearby Bububu are less than half an hour’s drive away, a night or two spent on the east or north cost is well worth the extra hour it takes to drive there. That said, the Chole Island Marine Park just off Stone Town – and nearby Prison, Grave, and Snake Islands – make a refreshing day-trip and a good break from exploring the winding passageways of the old city.
On the south coast of Zanzibar lies the Menai Bay Conservation Area, a sea turtle protection area for the endangered species that come to breed on the island. Roads to the southeast coast take visitors through the Jozani Forest, home to Zanzibar’s rare Red Colobus monkeys and a number of other primate and small antelope species.
THE OLD TOWN
The old stone town is a fascinating place to wander around. The main tourist features are:
Bel-el-Ajub (House of wanders). Built in 1883 by the Sultan of Barghash, it is one of the most Map of Zanzibar Islandprominent buildings in the old stone town. It was formally the Sultans palace and one of the longest structures in Zanzibar. This is a beautiful four-storey building surrounded by wide verandas.
Bet-al-Sahel (The palace Museum)
Built in 1828. It displays the period of the Zanzibar Sultanate. To the north of the palace lies the Makusurani graveyard, which is where most of the Sultans were buried.
The ‘Arab’ Fort
This is a massive cren-vaulted and bastioned structure and was built in 1700. The craft gallery has an excellent selection of first rate fabric worth a look.
Old slave market and UMCA cathedral
The cathedral built in 1877 by the mission to central Africa (UMCA), was the first Anglican cathedral in East Africa.
Zanzibar BeachTHE RUINS.
These are historical sites around the island and are worth visiting. Mbweni palace is an interesting architectural structure. Mvuleni dates from an abortive Portuguese attempt to colonize the island.
Mahurumbi palace built the Sultan is in 1882 and the remaining columns once supported a large upper floor overhead aqueduct, Mangapwani slave caves were used for illegal slave trade after the British had abolished it.
SPICE TOURS
Jozani Forest
This is a nature reserve for the rare red colobus monkey, species of antelope, the Zanzibar duiker and Sunni.
Changuu Island
Also known as Prison Island. It is the most famous of the offshore islands and in the 19th century was used for housing slaves. The beach is superb, the sea is crystal clear and there’s a whole family of giant tortoises roaming freely and often copulating.
Beaches Crystal clear waters at the beach.
These are protected by reefs, with soap of seaweed to swim in. They are totally relaxing and crime free. Scuba diving in the numerous coral reefs off the main island and its many offshore islets. There is a variety of soft and hard corals. Other marine life seen are such as, bat fish, lionfish, blue turtle, whale and sharks. Snorkeling this is done at the northern tip of Bawe Island.

]]>The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat.
Itinerary
Arrive in Arusha and overnight in a hotel (you choose the quality).Ngorongoro crater can be seen below
Day 2:
Drive to Ngorongoro for a half-day tour of the crater. Within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the largest unbroken caldera (collapsed volcano) in the world, Ngorongoro Crater. The crater floor (610 meters deep and 260 km squared) is a haven for wildlife, a microcosm of East African scenery and animals. There are many large animals within the crater itself, mostly zebra and wildebeest, but also lion and elephant. This is undoubtedly the best place to see rhino in Tanzania. Other animals may include: leopard, cheetah, hyena, warthog, impala, buffalo, hartebeest, eland and many other antelope and smaller mammals. There are many flamingos and a variety of other water birds around the soda lake on the crater floor. More than a 100 species of bird not found in the Serengeti have been found in the crater. Dinner and overnight at the Nainokanoka Campsite.
Take an Early breakfast (07.00) and with the help of donkeys carrying the luggage we head for Bulati Village visiting Olmoti Crater and waterfalls passing the Embulmbul Impression. The Olmoti Crater is a shallow grassy crater and is the source of the Munge river, which pours through a notch in the rim in a spectacular waterfall on its way to Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at Bulati Campsite.
After an early breakfast hike to Empakaai Crater (4 Hours). Descend into the crater to watch the flamingos and other animals – this beautiful little crater contains forests and a deep lake. At Empakaai, the scenery is spectacular at every point. From the northern and eastern side you can look out to the dramatic cone of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the Great Rift Valley and Lake Natron. Dinner and overnight on the Empakai Crater rim.
Empakaai to Acacia via Naiyobi – After breakfast we visit a Maasai village. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Acacia Campsite (village campsite) which is close to Ol Doinyo Lengai an active volcano.
Another early start (07.00) as we set off and hike through Emouro Engoilil (Pembe ya Swala) to the bottom of Ol Doinyo Lengai where you are met by a vehicle for transport to Lake Natron Campsite. An early night is needed.
At 03.00 we transfer by car to the base of Ol Doinyo Lengai and start trekking to the top arriving at about 07.30. We stay for about 30 minutes or so to view and photograph the activity from a distance. Return back to the camp and have lunch. The afternoon is spent walking to the nearby waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
At 05.30 we drive to Lake Natron to view the sunrise and the flamingos and then depart to Arusha. Overnight in Arusha Hotel (you choose the quality).
